Over the last 7 days, CT DPH has reported 7 new cases in Wilton. The Health Director and the entire Emergency Operations Team are monitoring this increase to determine if and what additional measures should be taken by the Town.
The State has not yet provided Wilton’s Health Department with all 7 names, but through self-reporting and contact tracing, the department is aware there may be additional cases reported over the next few days. If you have tested positive and have not been contacted, please help control the spread by emailing Wilton’s Health Director at Barry.Bogle@wiltonct.org.
The State’s reopening may have given Wilton residents a false sense of security about the virus. The virus is still very much out there and continues to be highly contagious. The State’s reopening and gathering guidelines are based on an expectation that residents wear masks and social distance.
There are plenty of examples of how quickly Coronavirus spread this winter at gatherings, such as weddings, birthday parties and sporting events. Attending a gathering now, without social distancing or the use of a face covering, puts you at greater risk.
If you travel back home from one of the states covered by CT DPH’s travel advisory, you are required to self-quarantine for 14 days. The only exceptions are for qualified emergency workers. If one member of the family travels, upon their return they need to self-quarantine away from other family members. If friends or relatives arrive at your home from one of these states, they need to quarantine in your home away from you and your family members.
Across the country young adults are increasingly the largest share of new cases. It is no different in Connecticut. As seen in the table below, residents aged 20 to 29 have accounted for almost 24% of new cases during Phase 2, more than twice their share of cases before the State’s reopening. Residents aged 10-19 have also increased their share of new cases, most likely due to those on the higher end of the age range.

The CT Data Center reported the following for Wilton as of June 28th:
- 214 cases, 7 additional since June 16h and 14 since May 19th
- 1,419 residents tested, 269 additional since June 16th and 669 since May 19th
- 1,826 tests performed, 374 since June 16th
- 41 deaths, no change since June 16th and 4 additional since May 19th
The State does not provide detailed data on antibody testing.
CT DPH reported the following for Fairfield County and the Statewide as of June 24th:
- 16,664 cases, 283 additional since 6/16 46,362 cases, 933 additional since 6/16
- 1,376 deaths, 24 additional since 6/16 4,320 deaths, 101 additional since 6/16
- 32 hospitalized, 36 less than 6/16 99 hospitalized, 87 less than 6/16
Property tax bills were mailed yesterday. The Tax Notice is on the Town’s website. Property taxes can be paid online or by phone or by mail or through the drop box at Town Hall. Tax bills will be available online on July 1st.
The Governor issued Executive Order 7DDD, which among others, extends the moratorium on residential evictions to August 22nd, and extends opportunities for residential renters to apply money from their security deposits to payment of rent.
The Governor also released detailed guidance on school reopening for the fall.
