Wilton Community Update: Thursday's Vaccine Clinic is Fully Booked, Stadium Stands Reopen, Road Paving, and More

Phase 1B Timeline:

• Scheduling now: Individuals aged 75 and up.
• Scheduling next (likely early February): Individuals between the ages of 65 and 74.
• Scheduling soon (likely late February or early March): Frontline essential workers and individuals with underlying medical conditions who have an increased risk for severe illness.

The roll-out of the vaccine to staff and residents of congregate living settings will be phased in throughout Phase 1b.

More information, including the definitions of frontline essential workers and the list of eligible underlying medical conditions, will be available in the next several weeks.

Please remember this timeline is subject to the supply of vaccines.  Something that is out of our control. 

If you are not a member of Phase 1A or not aged 75 and up and you have an appointment scheduled, CT’s DPH instructed you cancel your appointment.  We will be confirming eligibility at all town-sponsored vaccine clinics.  All vaccinators were instructed to do the same. 

The Wilton vaccine clinic scheduled for this Thursday is fully booked.  

Red Alert Status:  On Thursday, CT DPH announced Wilton and 164 CT municipalities continued to remain as red alert communities.  Red alert communities have an average daily case rate of 15 or more per 100,000 and are to consider additional restrictions to limit the spread of the coronavirus.  Wilton’s average daily rate of 36 cases per 100,000 is more than 2 times the threshold.  The numbers reported by the state are for a two-week period as of the previous Saturday. We expect this Thursday’s rate to remain at 30+.  The 6 new cases reported on Monday and the 10 new cases reported today indicated Wilton is likely to remain a red alert community for the time being. 

Road Paving:  The calendar year 2021 road paving schedule is being developed. Priority is based on the condition of the road.  In June of 2019, all roads were scanned and assigned a score.  That score was updated annually for depreciation and new paving.  The score for each road, a ranking of roads and a color-coded map of the rankings, as of January 15th, is available here.  Please see the link on the right side of the page. 

Stadium Stands:  The Stadium stands are being reopened this week.  As a reminder, the stands were not designed to maintain the vibration associated with individuals running on the steps.  The vibration causes the screws to loosen and possibly create a dangerous situation.  Residents are encouraged to walk the stairs, but please do not run on the stairs for your safety and that of others. 

Vaccine and Case Data:

As of this evening, the CDC has not  reported vaccine information.  CT DPH reported 221,000 doses administered as of Sunday, 196,000 first doses and 25,000 second doses.

The following is data, as of 8:30 p.m. last night, from today’s CT DPH report versus yesterday’s January 18^th report:

• Wilton:  10 new cases reported. 716 cases pandemic-to-day (PTD) 
• Statewide:  2,094 new cases.  5.65% of the 37,033 new tests reported were positive.  232,219 cases PTD.
• Fairfield County:  536 new cases.  67,617 cases PTD.
• Hospitalized Patients:  Statewide, 1,141 with a 27-net patient increase. Fairfield County, 283 with a 7-net patient increase.
• Deaths:  Statewide, 6,682 with 12 new deaths.  Fairfield County, 1,853 with 2 new deaths.  Wilton, 45, with no new deaths.
