Creativity Connects Wilton, made possible by LIFEWTR

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Wilton?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Wilton.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Jennifer Angerame, local creative, designer, owner of SouthernYankee.

Tell us about an organization in your town that makes you feel good

I want to thank Trackside, our teen center here in town. They have managed to keep our kids together in person in a time when it has been very challenging for our kids to have any sort of normalcy and just “be together."

They really got creative with the new programming and holding outdoor (covid safe) events for families.  They followed all protocols and let kids be kids!  Their fundraising efforts were so clever and brought smiles to everyone's faces. The pinwheels all over town and Buddy the Elf even delivered goodies to your home (and my shop!)

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

There is inspiration and creativity everywhere in our town! History and beauty are all tangled into one amazing town! But, I am a lover of all things vintage, so a little something special at Our Lady of Fatima always has beautiful things to look at and to inspire me. While under quarantine, one of the joys I had was looking at the beautiful posts from their Instagram account.  I have been sewing with vintage linens for years. I use vintage pieces in my shop for display, and their posts inspired some amazing finds!  Although monogramming has become a larger part of my business (Southern Yankee) you will still see touches of all things vintage in the shop!

What do you love about your community?

What do I love about Wilton? That we are all in this together. We are one town, looking out for one another. We are all warriors!

In celebration of my company’s 22nd anniversary, I will be donating a percentage of 1Q sales to our local food pantry. Each year, I try to have some sort of outreach. In March and April when the shop was closed, I spent my time making masks and caps to give to anyone who needed them.  When people wanted to play me I asked them to pay it forward or purchase a gift card to use at the shop in the future.
