Woodcock Nature Center salutes Eagle Scout Jared Hogan

June Court of Honor ceremony at Woodcock recognizes new Eagle Scout from BSA Troop 76 in Ridgefield.

Woodcock Nature Center was proud to host the Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Jared Hogan on Sunday, June 5th. A member of BSA Troop 76, Jared and his family have been long-time volunteers and supporters Woodcock, which was the beneficiary of his final eagle scout project during 2021.

For his project, Jared conceptualized and built a 12’ x 15’ wood-framed pavilion along the nature center's orange trail to serve as a shelter for outdoor classes and community programs. Support was also provided for the project by Ring's End.

Woodcock's teaching staff in attendance acknowledged how this and so many other Eagle Scout projects help Woodcock to better serve the community through education and access to nature. Past Eagle Scout projects on Woodcock's 149-acre preserve, which straddles both Ridgefield and Wilton, have also included educational signage, bridges, sheds, benches, gardens and much more.

Also, there to acknowledge Jared's exceptional service to the community were Rep. Aimee Berger-Girvalo, Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi and Senator Will Haskell.
