Wilton resident Lyn Salsgiver Kobsa appointed Chair Board of Directors at United Way of Coastal Fairfield County

United Way of Coastal Fairfield County has announced its 2022-23 slate of officers to lead the agency in the coming year, with Wilton resident Lyn Salsgiver Kobsa appointed as the Chair of the Board of Directors.  Salsgiver Kobsa succeeds Lucy Teixeira of Trumbull.   

According to Sam Tingley, Chair of the Governance Committee and previous board chair, “Lyn Salsgiver Kobsa is an ideal fit for the role due to her tireless efforts to increase equity and opportunity in Fairfield County.  We look forward to her leadership.”  

At United Way, Salsgiver Kobsa has helped lead the Impact Philanthropy grant-making program, investing $350,000 in programs by 25 community partners in the past 16 months.  In her most recent position as Vice President for Community Health Equity for Yale New Haven Health System, she led efforts to address health inequities and improve health outcomes in the health system’s regions.

Salsgiver Kobsa commented, “I feel privileged to assume this role at such an exciting time for United Way.  While we continue to help our neighbors with urgent needs, we are laying the foundations for long-term change and improvement of outcomes.  Working together with our partners, donors, and community members, we will help empower our neighbors to lead healthier lives, succeed in school and prepare for careers, and build stable financial foundations.”

United Way also announced new officers and executive committee members who will lead agency’s governance, fiduciary control, and strategic direction:  Vice Chair Anne McCrory,Chief Legal and Real Estate Officer, Diocese of Bridgeport; Treasurer Paul Reszutek, Retired Partner, Deloitte LLP; Secretary Susan G. Weinberger, President of Mentor Consulting Group; Governance Chair Lucy Teixeira, Vice President, Customer & Administrative Services at Aquarion Water Company; Development Chair Eric Stone, Founder and CEO of Clear Path Ventures. United Way Interim CEO Margo Amgott said, “I’m delighted to welcome these leaders to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.  They bring diverse skills and perspectives, but all are dedicated volunteers, serving in multiple non-profits throughout our footprint. They will help us continue to build resilient communities where all our neighbors can thrive.”

The new slate assumes responsibilities immediately.

About the New Officers and Executive Committee Members:

LYN SALSGIVER KOBSA, Chair, Board of Directors (Wilton)

Lyn Salsgiver Kobsa was most recently the Vice President for Community Health Equity for Yale New Haven Health System.  In this role, she led efforts to address health inequities in the community and improve the longer-term health outcomes in the region.  Lyn has co-chaired the United Way Impact Philanthropy health and wellness sub-committee, and is chair of the Strategic Planning committee.  She has previously served as board member and Vice Chair of the Visiting Nurse Services of CT.   Lyn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Dartmouth College and an MBA in Health Care Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  She and her husband Peter have two children.

ANNE MCCRORY, Vice Chair (Fairfield)

Anne McCrory is the Chief Legal & Real Estate Officer at the Diocese of Bridgeport.  Anne is Vice Chair and Governance Chair of the Board of Albertus Magnus College. She serves as Chair of Foundations in Charity, which provides endowment and operational financial support to Catholic Charities of Fairfield County.  An integral part of United Way, she has previously served both as Board Chair and Treasurer, and currently serves on the Core Leadership Team of Bridgeport Prospers, a United Way initiative to improve outcomes for children and families from cradle to career.  Anne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Boston College Law School.  She and her husband Hugh have four adult children.

PAUL J. RESZUTEK, Treasurer (Fairfield)

Paul Reszutek retired as a partner from Deloitte LLP after 40 years, serving many of the firm’s largest clients and in a variety of national and global leadership roles, including as a member of Deloitte’s board.  He is very active in the community, serving as a board member and treasurer for the Greater New Councils of the Boy Scouts of America and Youth Business Initiative in Norwalk.  He also works as an independent consultant and as a volunteer in the IRS VITA program.  Paul holds a BS in Economics and an MS in Accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  He and his spouse Lori are proud parents of three children busy building their lives and careers. 

SUSAN G. WEINBERGER, Secretary (Norwalk)

Dr. Susan G. Weinberger is the President of Mentor Consulting Group, an international firm that designs, implements, and evaluates youth and corporate mentoring programs. She previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Norwalk and Wilton.  Currently, she is a board member of the Norwalk Hospital, Riverbrook Regional YMCA, and Norwalk Community College Foundation. Susan received her Bachelors of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a doctorate from the University of Bridgeport.  She resides in Norwalk with her husband, Norman J. Weinberger, M.D. They have two children and five grandchildren.

LUCY TEIXEIRA, Governance Chair (Trumbull)

Lucy Teixeira serves as Vice President, Customer & Administrative Services at Aquarion Water Company.  She has served Aquarion for over 25 years, leading Human Resources and Compensation & Benefits.  Previously, she served as the Board Chair for United Way of Coastal Fairfield County.  She currently serves on the Board of Hartford HealthCare (HHC), Fairfield Region, and Chairs the HHC Fairfield Region Credentialing Committee.  She holds a BA in Accounting from Fairfield University, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. She and her husband Alfredo are the proud parents of three sons.

ERIC STONE, Development Chair (Monroe)

Eric Stone is the Founder and CEO of Clear Path Ventures, LLC, where he specializes in guiding young professionals and businesses to create, build, and sustain a high-performance culture. Before retirement, he was Regional Vice President for Enterprise Holdings, overseeing the Southern New England region.  He has served United Way both as Vice Chair of the Board and as an Executive in Residence, focusing on strategic initiatives.  He currently volunteers with Social Venture Partners, where he serves as a Board Member and Co-Lead for Achieve Hartford.  His forthcoming book, Jumpstart Your Workplace Culture, will be published at year-end.  He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Roger Williams University.  He and his wife Charyl have three children.
