Wilton-based Southern Yankee is 19! The brainchild and handiwork of Jennifer Angerame, a southern born gal who moved to NYC and then to the Connecticut burbs, Southern Yankee a local business to celebrate!
“It’s not quite the big one - 20 years - but still deserving of a celebratory nod,” says Angerame. “Perhaps that is why tradition holds that a 19th wedding anniversary gift is to be constructed of bronze. Not quite gold or silver, but nonetheless worth celebrating!” she adds.
With humble beginnings, Angerame launched her businesses nearly twenty years ago as a small card company, operating out her NYC apartment.
Angerame has built Southern Yankee into a brand; one that represents wholesome, trendy, fashionable apparel creatively crafted from vintage linens and other upcycled fabrics.
2017 was a big year for Southern Yankee - Angerame opened a pop-up shop across from Town Hall at 237 Danbury Road, and added a new arm of the business, “Monogramming by Southern Yankee”. What’s in store for Southern Yankee in 2018? As Angerame prepares for the shop’s big 2-0, she reveals some news that will have you popping (ok, hopping) for joy. “I am happy to announce that thanks to your patronage, I have decided to keep the store open! This will enable Southern Yankee to help you with all your gifts for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, and graduation, and all your monogramming needs.” Stop by the shop at 237 Danbury Rd, Wilton. (across from Town Hall, near Naked Greens & Blue Star Bazaar) to wish Jennifer a happy 19 years!
