You’re IT Blue Star Bazaar!

Three questions with Megan Abrahamsen. owner of Blue Star Bazaar.
Why did you start your business?

I have always loved fashion and retail.  I also grew up in Wilton and live here now.  (I actually used to work at Boyd's gift show in the Barringer building during high school.)  I wanted to create my own store so I could stay in the industry I love but have a flexible schedule to work around the needs of my family.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”
Let everyone know where I am.  Wilton does not have a traditional Main Street.  My shop is in a pretty convenient location (Route 7 across from Town Hall) and the location is adorable (an old home converted to commercial space).  Unfortunately, people don't always think of this location for shopping.  A lot of people have found me through word-of-mouth and social media but new people are still finding us every month.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
I love working with other local businesses.  My neighbor is Southern Yankee Monogramming.  We've had a great partnership because Jennifer draws a similar clientele to Blue Star Bazaar.  Customers have been able to make purchases in my store and walk next door to have her personalize them.  I've also partnered with other retailers for marketing and customer events.  Some of these partners include Melly Bonita (Stella & Dot Stylist) and Local Soul (to pair shoes with outfits from Blue Star Bazaar).  Painted Cookie, Tusk & Cup, and Ancona's provide beautiful tasty treats, coffee and wine for customer events.  Ridgefield Printing has provided printing of marketing materials.  Also, local photographers Xenia Gross and Andrea Topalian have created beautiful images to use in marketing materials.

Blue Star Bazaar is located at 237 Danbury Road. Visit the store online here.

I tag Tusk & Cup Fine Coffee!
