Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You’re IT Tusk & Cup Fine Coffee!

Three questions with Laura Freed Ancona, owner of Tusk & Cup Fine Coffee.

Why did you start your business?

My husband Joe's grandfather came to this area over 100 years ago from Sicily. Joe also studied architecture in Italy and fell in love with the food and coffee culture.  We wanted to bring a taste of the true Italian coffee and gelato experience here so that people could feel like they were transported to Italy!

Best selling product/service?

We really are known for our authentic Italian cappuccino's and our handmade gelato.  One of our best selling lattes is our Bacio Latte which means "kiss" in Italian.  It is a combination of nocciola (hazelnut) and chocolate!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We try to use as many local purveyors as possible.  We use CT Farmer's Cow Milk; we sell amazing cookies from The Cake Box in Ridgefield; granola bars & other pastries from Daily Fare in Bethel; chocolate from Deborah Ann's in Ridgefield; and biscotti from the Sono Bakery to name a few.

Tusk & Cup is located at 142 Old Ridgefield Road in Wilton. Visit them online here.
