You're IT Winning Applications!

Three questions with Stephanie Klein Wassink, owner of Winning Applications.

Why did you start your business?

I graduated from Brown and then The Wharton School. Brown was not a great fit for me due to their lack of core curriculum (I learned that I thrive on more structure).  I then worked as an admissions officer at Northwestern for a few years and enjoyed that very much.  So when I started Winning Applications nearly 20 years ago, my hope was to not only help prospective college students get into their top choice school, but to also help them find their "right fit" school. Five years ago, I created AdmissionsCheckup.com, a virtual admissions committee made up of former admissions officers like myself, which gives honest and direct critiques of a student's application before it is submitted.

eliminate all of the stress and worry about the college application process. There is a school for everyone!

How many people do you employ?

We have two part-time employees who help me in most aspects of the business as well as many former admissions officers who serve as readers for AdmissionsCheckup.com. Every summer, we also hire local college students to help us with office tasks and to write blogs on their own experiences with the college admissions process.
