Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Georgetown Cake Shoppe!

Three questions with Liz Vitti, owner of Georgetown Cake Shoppe.

Why did you start your business?

I started my family run business more than 10 years ago. I have always loved doing desserts, and decorating cakes. My mom always had cake decorating books in the house, and I loved going through them, as a child.

I worked for Barii-Lynn Creative Cakes in Weston for many years, until she retired, then opened my own place, kind of as a continuation of her business.

Best selling product or service?

My main selling product are custom cakes. There are 100’s of flavor and filling combinations that I can do. Almost all cakes have buttercream covering (as opposed to fondant). I have a Facebook page with 1000s of cake pictures, and the flavor and filling list. You can take a look at it here.

Do you support the local community?

I make donations to my regular customers who come to me for school functions, or charities., etc. I like to help out, when I can.

Georgetown Cake Shoppe is located at 1 Ethan Allen Highway. Visit them online here.
