Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT RSKS Photography!

Three questions with Tiffany Shelton, owner of RSKS Photography.

Why did you start your business?

I started RSKS Photography as a natural progression from what I was already doing for years, which was photographing friends, family, and the occasional “paid client”.  I started out concentrating on fashion photography, doing sessions with different themes and styles. There were times I would actually approach women out around town or at the mall, and ask if they’d be willing to have a free fashion photo shoot, which I would use for my portfolio. Eventually, I realized this was something I wanted to do every day of my life.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: “I wish I could... “

I wish I could do what I’m already doing! But to clarify, there are a few answers to this question. For me, a better question would be “I wish I could do more of...” One of my favorite parts of my business, which I wish I could do more of, is photographing a child every year from newborn, into childhood, and beyond. I already have a few clients who have returned each year since their baby was born... from newborn photos to first-year birthday “cake smash” photos, and eventually their first school photos. I also would love to do more dog photography, especially to add to my “Dognified” collection (see my website for examples!)

Best selling photo sessions?

My best selling photo sessions have been family portraits and newborns, with dog photography a close third. Living in Wilton, I am blessed to have so many lovely families to work with, and so many beautiful outdoor spots to use as a backdrop, such as Waveny park, ambler farm, weir farm, Cannondale village, and Merwin meadows.
