Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story.

Tell me about The Turnover Shop.

The Turnover Shop of Wilton was founded over 80 years ago by volunteers who sought to create a community that would serve the local community.  Our profits are donated to Visiting Nurse and Hospice, the Wilton PTAs, and many other non-profit agencies in town and the extended community.  The Turnover Shop is a 501(c)3 organization.

Our one hundred and fifty volunteers consist of women and men of all ages, and from throughout the region.  Each summer, we hire college and high school students to allow our volunteers a vacation.
