Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Optimal Physical Therapy!

Three questions with Craig Spann, owner of Optimal Physical Therapy.

Why did you start your business?

The main reason I started Optimal Physical Therapy and Performance is that I wanted to help people. I truly believe in Physical Therapy and the dramatic effect it can have on helping people feel good. But with today’s healthcare system, traditional physical therapists have to see multiple patients at the same time, and I didn’t feel I was able to give people my best in that traditional model. So, I realized the best way I could help people is to give them one-on-one sessions so I could truly give people the best treatment and care possible.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: I wish I could...

I wish I could help more people before injuries happen. Almost everyone could benefit from physical therapy and don’t even think of it as an option. Even if you don’t have an injury, there are so many ways that we can determine where you may have movement problems that may put you at an increased risk of injury. There are so many people that could be helped before their little nagging injuries become a big problem.

Best selling product or service?

Dry needling! Dry needling is a technique that uses tiny needles for trigger point or spasm relief. As you can imagine, people are nervous about needles, but when they see the results they end up begging for more.

Craig Spann would like to nominate Wilton Sport and Fitness. "It is a great gym with great personal training staff. They are also a local place for kid's birthday party's as they have a full indoor turf field," he says.
