With news of a Wilton resident identified with a presumptive positive case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and in keeping with recommendations from local and state agencies, Wilton Library has decided to postpone or cancel all of its programming for the month of March.
Wilton Library’s executive director Elaine Tai-Lauria said, “Given the circumstances in our community, we have decided to take a proactive approach across the board and postpone or cancel programs. The library is the cultural and intellectual heart of this community, but we do not feel it is appropriate to encourage large scale gatherings at this time.”
As such, the library will be postponing its 125th Anniversary Celebration Gala and its Human Library. Both of these popular events will be rescheduled for another time. Beginning today, the library has canceled its other programs, including an author talk with The New York Times food columnist Melissa Clark, all adult, teen, and children’s programs, and all maker space programs through the end of March.
The library building will remain open to patrons including the internet computers for people to be able to stay informed. The library custodial staff will continue to disinfect public surfaces daily; and hand sanitizers are stationary throughout the building.
Through the library’s Digital Services, patrons also can download e-books, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines, and stream music, movies, TV shows and more using their Wilton Library cards. The library’s online databases also are available 24/7. To learn how to get started, patrons may visit the library’s website at www.wiltonlibrary.org and click on Digital Library or call the reference desk at 203-762-6350.
Patrons also are welcome to use the drive-thru window on Godfrey Place to pick up or return borrowed items; and they can use the blue drop box in the parking lot to return their items.
