Step inside The Painted Cookie!

Three questions with Susan Schmitt, owner of The Painted Cookie.

We are excited to announce we are expanding our current space to include a new shipping department and a bigger kitchen

- Susan Schmitt

Are you offering any new products or ways for customers to purchase your products or services that are popular during this crisis?

We were fortunate in February to update our website to accept orders for Curbside Pickup and Shipping. Our COVID Cookie Sets were our first Cookie Set to ship all over the US! Our Bake & Decorate kits have been a big hit for an activity for a family to enjoy as well as our holiday (4th of July up next) cookies to decorate cookie kits. We always have assorted cookie shapes for coloring with our food coloring markers. The Bake-to-Order Chocolate Chip Cookies have been a big success for pickup and shipping. We also offer sprinkles if you are celebrating a special occasion. Speaking of special occasions, we added a Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake to our menu. All of these are available to order on our website https://www.paintedcookie.com/no-contact-curbside-pickup along with our current stock for decorated cookies

Are there certain individuals or organizations that supported you and your business through this trying time?

When COVID first arrived in Wilton we were blessed by two of our local churches who shopped sweet treats for first responders and our local grocery store employees. Easter we were supported by all our surrounding towns. Our local Girl Scouts and Schools celebrated their members and students with our Nut & Sesame Treats. And lots of local graduations celebrated with our treats.

Please share the ways your business is adapting to keep your customers and employees safe in addition to the standard guidelines

We were able to adapt very easily during the onset with ordering through our website for curbside pickup along with custom orders. Now that end of the school year "busy" season is over we are excited to announce we are expanding our current space to include a new shipping department and a bigger kitchen. This will give us 4 separate rooms to work in and keep our employees safe while distancing. While we are waiting for new equipment to arrive we will continue Curbside Pickup through the beginning or middle of August. Our retail area will be rearranged to include a large shielded checkout and all product will be showcased behind the checkout for customers to select what retail treats they would like to purchase. Custom orders can also be taken at the counter. We will be adding a gift wrapping station as well. All employees will have masks and gloves when assisting and checking out customers. We are excited to welcome you all into our new space in August!
