Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
Four questions with Chris Capelle, founder of Chris Capelle - Macintosh Computer & Apple Expert.
Why did you start your business?
Because working for myself is the best choice for me. It gave me flexible hours and I was able to volunteer at my children’s schools and make the same (or more) money than working at a full-time job, all while working fewer hours.
What is your best-selling product/service?
It’s my expertise. I’m a great, pragmatic problem solver and that’s the most important asset to handle this type of work.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
As many as possible. My auto repair shop (Briggs Tire in Norwalk, which is owned by a Wilton resident), haircutter, CPA, web designer, photographer, etc. are all local. I also try to refer clients to other clients who are local.
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
I’ve made it easier to do work remotely. Plus, I’m able to more hands-on work offsite. However, there are always going to be a lot of face-to-face meetings in this industry, and that doesn’t look to change anytime soon.
