Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Uncle Leo's!

Four questions with Leo Spinelli, founder of Uncle Leo's.

Why did you start your business?

Uncle Leo's [Not Just Coffee and Donuts] is a family-owned and operated restaurant. I knew there was a call for donuts and a great spot opened up in Georgetown where I wanted to be.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our best-selling products are bagels, donuts (over 20 varieties), and breakfast sandwiches.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Fairfield County Bank, Joel Barlow High School, Weston High School, and Ridgefield teachers on Teacher Appreciation Day.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Yes, I opened my patio and started delivering. I also donated bagels and donuts to area hospitals and food pantries and nursing homes.
