The Aldrich is looking to hire a Teaching Artist to help with Camp Aldrich

This is a part-time summer position. $5000 Honorarium

* The Teaching Artist will work with the Aldrich Education department in leading the summer 2023 Camp Aldrich by developing and implementing innovative, enriching, and creative art-making programming for youth grades 1 through 6.

* The Teaching Artist will be responsible to lead Camp Aldrich for youth grades 1 through 6 (“campers”) by preparing age-appropriate lesson plans, art-making, and interactive games/activities for submission in advance; developing and leading in-gallery learning experiences and activities inspired by our current exhibitions; identify, mentor, and communicate with campers on a daily basis; manage two counselor interns on supporting each camp day; maintain and monitor the cleanliness and organization of The Studio through daily art-making and use; and develop and implement the Friday evening exhibition of campers’ creative projects at the end of each Camp week for caregivers and families.

* A materials budget will be provided to the Teaching Artist in advance for the preparation of art-making lessons and activities.

* Successful candidates will be creative and outgoing artists with an active studio practice; be proactive and solution-oriented with an ability to multi-task; be comfortable leading in-gallery teaching and interaction with youth of various ages, needs, and abilities; be able to implement inquiry-based approaches to educational teaching around the Museum’s current exhibitions; have excellent oral and written communication skills; and above all be able to work collaboratively in partnership with the Museum’s team, contributing to a positive Museum culture for campers, visitors, and staff.
