The Painted Cookie celebrates ten years and a new home in Wilton Center!

It’s been a sweet decade for Wilton’s The Painted Cookie which has earned acclaim for delivering delicious and artistically decorated nut-free cookies to customers near and far.

This past weekend, the destination shop owned by Susan Schmitt celebrated the opening of its brand new and expanded store in Wilton center.

The Painted Cookie’s social media pages are buzzing with well-wishers and happy (and excited) customers.

Schmitt said, “What an amazing opening weekend at the new shop! There have so many been blessings all along the way to get here. Seeing friends/customers (because so many have become both) and fellow Wilton and Georgetown business owners came in to see the space and give us best wishes.”

When we interviewed Susan on the heels of her fifth year in business as part of our Why Small Businesses Matter series, she told HamletHub, “I started my business because I loved decorating cookies! I had been out to the workforce for 16 years and I needed to return to work. I had just turned 50 and wasn't sure who would hire me after being unemployed for so long. So we (our family) made the decision for me to become a cookie bakery owner. We decided to become the first Nutfree Cookie Shop in our area.”

Congratulations on ten successful and delicious years, Susan! It’s always wonderful to see a small business grow! Thank you for bringing good things to Wilton!
