BRAVO! Sixty-two years of costumes from the Walter Schalk School of Dance are now en-route to happy homes and the pop-up shop Schalk opened in December is now closed.
Dance studios, former students, and fun-loving customers all purchased costumes from former Broadway shows Schalk’s dancers put on over the years. Schalk gives a round of applause to all supported Costumes for a Cause by purchasing costumes with the goal of proceeds going to local high school theater groups. He is particularly happy he was able to donate 2000 costumes to the Deer Hill Thrift Store in Danbury which has a costume department in support of schools, dance and theater groups and groups with limited funds.
Schalk breathes a sigh of relief that the thousands of costumes from his years of teaching dance are all going to good use. The best part says Schalk was spending his days meeting new people, renewing old acquaintances and sharing fond memories. “Everyone who helped make this happen deserves a standing ovation,” says Schalk.
