Proposed Bill Charged with Consolidating Wilton and Norwalk School Districts

A new proposed bill in the Connecticut General Assembly involves the creation of Regional School Districts and could mean the consolidation local districts including Wilton and Norwalk.

The purpose of the bill, introduced to the General Assembly by Senator Looney of the 11th District, is to create a more efficient educational system.

According to the Wilton Bulletin, if passed, the new bill would create a commission charged with developing a plan to consolidate school districts with fewer than 40,000 students, along the lines of existing probate districts. Wilton and Norwalk share the same probate court.
