Public Hearing in Wilton on Proposed Changes to Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief Ordinance

At the September 23rd meeting of the Board of Selectmen, Tax Assessor Sarah Scacco reported she has undertaken a review of the Town's Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief Ordinance.

Although a more comprehensive review of the ordinance will take place later in the year, Sarah presented three proposed changes, which she recommended for immediate consideration. The purpose of the proposed changes is to ensure that all eligible residents receive the benefits to which they are entitled and approved funding for those benefits is appropriately utilized.  Sarah’s PowerPoint presentation is available here.

The video of Sarah’s presentation and the Board’s discussion can be viewed beginning at 2 hours and 11 minutes here'

The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on the proposed changes on October 7th at 8:00pm.  The public notice and the current ordinance with the proposed changes, marked in red, are available here. Information is also available in the Town Clerk's Office.

Comments and questions will be heard at the public hearing or can be emailed to the board of selectmen at boardofselectmen@wiltonct.org.
