Update: Proposed Verizon Cell Tower at the Bus Barn

On November 2nd representatives from Verizon held a public information session on the proposed cell tower at the Bus Barn on School Road.

Mapping was shared which reflected current and post-proposed cell tower coverage. The mapping confirmed the proposed tower will provide coverage in areas identified as deficient by the Town, including Wilton Center, Ridgefield Road, Middlebrook, Cider Mill, WHS, playing fields and RT 7 near the schools.

The mapping is available here.  Blue is strong coverage, green is coverage, but not as strong as blue and white is no coverage.  Note, the mapping includes coverage from specific towers relevant to the area being addressed by the proposed tower.

Verizon representatives also provided a half-mile radius viewshed map identifying properties from which the tower is expected to be visible.  The viewshed map is available here.  Properties in yellow are anticipated to have year-round visibility.  Properties in brown are expected to have seasonal visibility.

Verizon representatives will return later this year at a date to be determined to take additional photos.  Verizon representatives offered to take photos from the property of any resident concerned about visibility.   Photos are taken utilizing GIS waypoints to ensure the camera is pointed towards the location of the proposed tower.

Interested residents should email Community Affairs Coordinator Sarah Gioffre at Sarah.Gioffre@wiltonct.org.  Please include your property address, the specific spots from which you would like the photo taken (backyard, poolside, on the deck, etc.) and any other relevant information.  When the date is set, Sarah will email notice to registered residents, the Town will issue an e-alert and Verizon representatives will contact registered residents about arrangements.
