Wilton Police take suspects into custody following stolen vehicle reports

Following up on our earlier post from Wilton Police regarding last night's stolen vehicles and vehicle break-in, Wilton Police have provided this update:

On 6/21/18 at 0315am a Wilton patrol officer observed 4 vehicles exiting an assisted living housing complex on River Road and travel southbound. The area has been the target of multiple stolen vehicles as well as MV burglaries in recent months.

Officers were able to stop 2 of the vehicles on Danbury Rd in the area of Deerfield Rd. after following the vehicles down Old Highway and Sharp Hill Rd. Both of the vehicles were later found to be stolen, a Nissan Rogue Stolen out of North Haven the week prior and a Ford Escape stolen out of Wilton just prior to being stopped by police.

Both drivers were taken into custody at that time. Micheal Lockhart, age 19, of Bridgeport, CT was arrested in the stolen Nisan Rogue. A 17-year-old JV out of Bridgeport, CT was arrested in the stolen Ford Escape. Both suspects were transported to the Wilton Police Department for processing. During this time 2 other Vehicles were reported stolen along with 2 MV burglaries in Wilton. One of those stolen vehicles, a Volkswagon Jetta, was recovered shortly after the arrests in the parking garage of 20 Westport Rd. Wilton, CT. The third stolen vehicle out of Wilton, a 2010 Nissan Rogue, has not been recovered at this time.

Lockhart was charged with:

Larceny 1st Degree (3 counts)
Conspiracy Larceny 1st Degree (2 counts)
Burglary 3rd Degree (2 counts)
Conspiracy Burglary 3rd Degree (2 counts)
Larceny 6th Degree
Illegal Operation of MV while under suspension

Lockhart was held on a $20,000 bond and arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court on 6/21/18.

The JV was charged with:

Larceny 1st Degree (2 counts)
Conspiracy Larceny 1st Degree (2 counts)
Burglary 3rd Degree (2 counts)
Conspiracy Burglary 3rd Degree (2 counts)

An Order to Detain was completed for the JV and he was subsequently transported to Bridgeport Juvenile court.

Please note: Wilton Police say that all vehicles entered were left unlocked. All vehicles stolen had their keys and/or key fobs left in the vehicle. Police would like to remind residents to remove your keys and lock your vehicles. This is the greatest deterrent to this type of activity.
