Extreme Heat Forecasted for Weekend into Monday

There is an excessive heat threat for this weekend into early next week.

A hot and humid airmass will move into the region. The excessive heat and humidity forecast is highest on Sunday and Monday, when much of the region has forecast max heat indices between 95 and 104 degrees.

Saturday
  • Max Temperatures of low to mid 90s.
  • Max Heat Indices of 95-100.
Sunday
  • Max Temperatures of mid to upper 90s.
  • Max Heat Indices of 100-104.
Monday
  • Max Temperatures of mid to upper 90s.
  • Max Heat Indices of 95-104.
Forecast max temperatures are in the upper 80s to lower 90s on Tuesday with forecast max heat indices near 90 to 100.
 
Forecast Low temperatures each night this weekend as well as Monday night will be mainly within the 70s and for NYC will stay mainly in the upper 70s.
 
Impacts:
  • The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
  • Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool.
  • Seniors, infants, and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk from the heat.
