Three ways to help our neighbors in need during May!
The Community Services Council of Woodbury succeeds in reaching out to support our neighbors in need yearround only because of your steadfast commitment to our shared mission of compassion. During May, please consider joining us once more by participating in these special events that will benefit the Woodbury Food Bank and other CSCW emergency assistance programs:
‘Walk Against Hunger’ in Waterbury on Sunday, May 3
You’re invited to join or sponsor our team in the 2015 Connecticut Food Bank “Walk Against Hunger” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, in downtown Waterbury. This year, the CSCW will retain 85 percent of all funds raised by our team from sponsorships for our walk to support our critically needed service to client families at the Woodbury Food Bank. It’s easy to register online: Just go to www.ctfoodbank.org/walk, click the link for the “10th Annual Greater Waterbury” Walk, then choose the “Join a Team” tab, select the “Community Services Council of Woodbury” team, and click the “Join Team” tab to sign up. You may register either as a walker to seek sponsorships and participate in the approximately 75-minute walk beginning and concluding at Library Park in downtown Waterbury, or as a virtual walker to contribute to our sponsorship gifts.
‘Give Local’ online marathon May 5 & 6
Postal carrier drive for Woodbury Food Bank on Saturday, May 9
Woodbury postal carriers will pick up nonperishable food donations townwide during their mail route runs on Saturday, May 9, and deliver your donations directly to the Woodbury Food Bank as part of the annual National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive. Last year Woodbury residents left more than 350 bags of nonperishables by their mailboxes or at the post office, and we’ll have a great volunteer crew working at the food bank eager to receive another record outpouring of donations. Just remember to have your bagged items ready for pickup at your mailbox on May 9 when your carrier arrives!
