Pegasus Needs your help!

June is PTSD Awareness Month but at Pegasus we work with individuals with PTSD year-round.

While Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is commonly linked with war veterans. This mental health condition however can be triggered by suffering or witnessing any terrifying event like accidents, natural disasters, violent experience – or a disastrous pandemic.  It comes as no surprise that medical health professionals and other people in the frontline of the fight against coronavirus are expected to have a surge in trauma-related illnesses, particularly PTSD.

Pegasus is ready to step up and serve these individuals with a live-changing Equine Assisted Program, The Equus Effect (TEE).

TEE is a program that uses horses and highly trained facilitators, deals with social-emotional growth and trauma in people of all ages and circumstances. Through the restorative powers of the horse, clients are able to discover their own strength and healing through the experiential learning this program has to offer. Didactic elements of recognizing emotions and working towards emotional agility help participants manage their emotions in a positive and healthy way. All this is done through what we call “The Wisdom of the Prey” and connection with our equine partners. Our goal is that each individual leaves this program with a renewed sense of self-worth, well-being, and empowerment.

We have requested an Essential Services Designation from Governor Cuomo's office to provide these services to our Frontline workers but we need your help.
