Support the SPCA's Betty White Challenge

Last year we mourned the loss of Betty White, a true icon and one of the first celebrities to use her platform to advocate for homeless animals in need of love and second chances. In her honor, we are taking part in the Betty White Challenge once again on what would have been her 101st birthday. Our hope on this special day is to raise funds to support one of our newest rescues who we’ve named “Betty”, and other animals like her who are frequently abandoned due to advanced age or medical issues.

This sweet senior pit bull mix was recently found wandering in the cold on a busy street in Peekskill. She was in very rough shape and looked like she’d been living outside most of her life when the animal control officer rushed her into the SPCA. Betty was desperate for a nutritious meal and a kind hand to show her some affection.

It was quite evident that Betty was in dire need of immediate medical attention, so our SPCA veterinary team quickly jumped into action. Not only is Betty nearly 30 lbs. underweight, she’s been suffering with a ruptured eardrum and was having difficulty walking due to painful overgrown nails that had embedded into her paw pads. She also appears to be severely overbred, which no animal should ever have to endure.

Your gift today will help Betty receive the critical care that she needs to start healing and to prepare her for adoption by a loving family. It’s heartbreaking to know that people can be so cruel to innocent animals. And, it’s only thanks to kind friends like you that the SPCA can be here to support them and ensure they never have to worry about their next meal.

Thank you in advance for honoring Betty White, a friend to all animals, and for being a friend to our Betty.
