Beekeeping 101 Course at Putnam Valley Grange

Led by Regina Blakeslee of the Hudson Valley Natural Beekeepers, this workshop will cover some key aspects of bee biology and behavior and introduce you to ‘natural’ beekeeping methods. You will learn a brief history of beekeeping, the basic equipment needed, site selection, and where to obtain your first honeybees and beekeeping gear. You will also learn a more sustainable, holistic approach of how the bee colony works as an organism, interacts with the environment, plants, flowers, and with us. Even if you may not be ready to become a beekeeper, come and learn how you can appreciate and help pollinators, as well as how to go pesticide-free and improve the environment with beneficial forage plants.

Saturday March 28th 2020 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at keepimg 101 Workshop
