Arbor Day Celebration
The Town of Yorktown is pleased to announce the 9th Annual Arbor Day Celebration, to be held Friday, April 26, 2019 on the grounds of the John C. Hart Memorial Library, 1130 East Main Street in Shrub Oak. In case of rain or inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the library. Arbor Day festivities will start at 4:00 PM and last for about 45 minutes with a reception to follow.

Arbor Day activities will include a ceremonial tree planting and dedication of new plaques to recognize the trees of distinction that grace the grounds of the Hart Library. We will also hear a report by students on this year’s collaborative tree planting project in the Yorktown Schools. Winners of our annual Arbor Day Student Poster Contest will be announced at the ceremony. Afterwards, all are invited to enjoy some refreshments, which include our popular locally-baked tree-shaped cookies and apple cider, and view the exhibit of posters at leisure. Attendees are urged to take home and plant a free tree sapling courtesy of Con Edison.
