Assemblyman Byrne's Blood Drive Helps Ease NY's Blood Emergency

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,Ref-Mahopac) is pleased to announce the success of his blood drive co-hosted with the American Red Cross at Carmel Town Hall on Wednesday, July 31. Together they were able to collect over 20 units of blood from donors throughout the area.

“There is currently a blood emergency, and I’m delighted so many people from our community came out to donate this week,” said Byrne. “Thank you to all who donated or came out in support of the blood drive. I’d also like to give a big thank you to Carmel Town Supervisor Ken Schmitt and the rest of the Carmel Town Board for their assistance in providing town hall for us to host the blood drive. Together, we collected enough blood to help save an additional 66 lives!”

“The Red Cross has been in an emergency blood shortage since early July,” said Patty Corvaia, communications manager of the American Red Cross New York Penn Blood Services. “We are grateful for the support of community partners like Assemblyman Kevin Byrne. "Together, we are continuing to help save lives. We could not fulfill our lifesaving mission without him and other supporters.”

“It was great seeing so many members of the community donating their time and blood to help save over 50 lives,” said Schmitt. “Thank you to all those who donated and supported this cause, and a special thank you to Assemblyman Kevin Byrne, the board and all those who helped make this blood drive possible.”
