Yorktown Chamber The President’s Column November 2019

Beautiful weather greeted the 11th Annual Yorktown Festival & Street Fair on Sunday, October 13 as thousands crowded the main streets of Yorktown Heights sponsored jointly by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Yorktown. A lot of time and effort has gone into making this event top last year’s with major layout changes and the addition of new attractions. Even our festival flags had a different look this year! The event featured close to 200 vendors, providing information, promotional giveaways, raffles and games. Live entertainment, a display of new and antique cars, a blood drive sponsored by the New York Blood Center, a dog costume parade, a White Castle eating contest, crafts, children’s rides, a beer garden and a complimentary luncheon enjoyed by more than 300 senior citizens rounded out a phenomenal day!

I would like to thank the Town of Yorktown, Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department, the Yorktown Police Department, our Parks and Recreation Department and our Festival committee for their long hours of planning, attending the meetings and physically being there all day insuring this event would go on as planned, as well as our sponsors: Fidelis Care, Yorktown News, The Northern Westchester Examiner, Diversified Properties, Soundview Preparatory School, the Jefferson Valley Mall and all our vendors for their invaluable contribution in making this event memorable. We are already starting to plan for 2020 and hope to see you there!

Our Member Appreciation Award Cocktail Party at Savannah & Co. was a sold out event where we honored five Chamber members for their unrelenting support and service to the Chamber. (Please note page 13 of this newsletter). On October 29th we held our first Breakfast Networking Meeting at the Hill Blvd Diner after the summer hiatus where we heard Candace Cohen of MCM Agency inform us of how to navigate our way through Medicare.

Please join me in congratulating CareMount Medical, Pizzazzles and Sunshine Starts on their Grand Openings and wish Furci’s Restaurant the best on their new second floor installation!

On October 21 and 23, the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce sponsored two very informative political debates for the people of Yorktown at the Yorktown Stage.

Looking ahead: Please be sure to attend the November 12 member-free “Business Social” taking place at the Winery at St. George Restaurant Bar & Grill at 6:00pm where we will be inducting all our new members.

With the holidays approaching, keep a lookout for the announcements of our Annual Holiday Get Together and the exciting Yorktown Chamber’s New Year’s Eve Ball Drop !

I wish you all a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Sergio Esposito, President
