The Arthritis Foundation to Honor Local Residents at Jingle Bell Run Westchester on December 7th!

Purchase, NY—December 7, 2019—

Arthritis Foundation's Westchester Jingle Bell Run to be held on December 7 from 8AM - 12PM at SUNY Purchase College 735 Anderson Hill Rd, Purchase, New York. The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run is the original festive race for charity, bringing people from all walks of life together to champion arthritis research and resources. Westchester Arthritis Foundation's Development Manager, Kelsey Torgerson is proud to announce the 2019 honorees.

Meet our 2019 Adult Honoree from Mamaroneck, NY, Kerry Wong. Kerry was diagnosed in her early 30s with sarcoidosis and fibromyalgia after years of misdiagnoses, hospital stays, and doctor visits. She shares her experience in her personal blog Float Like a Buttahfly and has been published by a number of online magazines and non-profit organizations dedicated to chronic illness. Kerry believes there is always hope. She has been involved with the Arthritis Foundation since 2013 and is now a Platinum Ambassador, a member of the 2020 Advocacy Taskforce, and the Co-Chair of the NYC Advocacy Committee.

Meet our 2019 Adult Honoree, Judy Marano, from Brewster, NY. Judy has been battling and winning over psoriatic arthritis for over 10 years now. She has moved from drug to drug to maintain a “normal” lifestyle. She hopes that she has lived her best life with grace and dignity that she can be proud of. Judy makes the choice every morning to get up and face the day with an open heart, a big spirit, and compassion for all of those in the same boat. Arthritis truly has taught her about herself and her capabilities.

Meet our 2019 Medical Honoree, Dr. Shalene Badhan, Rheumatologist at the NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group. As a physician, she believes in teaming up with patients and their families to help make informed decisions about their health. Dr. Badhan specializes in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine and sees patients for a variety of rheumatologic diseases, including rheumatoid, psoriatic, and reactive arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, myositis, vasculitis, lupus, gout, and osteoperosis. Her practice is in Cortland Manor, NY.

Meet our 2019 Youth Honoree, Hanna Curtis, a 13-year-old from Carmel, NY. After over a year of migraines and leg and body pains, Hanna was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) at the age of 5, as well as with Sarcoidosis. Ever since, Hanna has been advocating for herself in school and with doctors. She attended the Arthritis Advocacy Summit in Washington D.C. and met kids her age who also suffer from arthritis. She loves to write stories, draw, and listen to music.
