Yorktown Chamber The President’s Column December 2019

Yorktown Chamber of Commerce President's Column as published in the December 2019 Newsletter:

Before I begin and as we gear up for the holiday shopping season and all the craze it will bring please remember to shop local and support our local businesses and eateries. Let them all know that they are important to us and this town. Here is what is up and coming at the Chamber for the month of December 2019 and beyond.

On Monday December 9th at Novecento Wood Burning Kitchen and Bar we will be hosting our holiday get together. This is a great event and is always highly attended. Come and celebrate with The Yorktown Chamber and its members as we offer complimentary beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres. There will also be a full cash bar and holiday music abound.

On Tuesday, December 31, 2019 the Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Town of Yorktown will be holding its 4th Annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop at the intersection of Commerce Street and Veterans Road. A DJ will kick off the festivities at 10:00 pm. A countdown will announce the ball’s descent at midnight. We will have New Year’s Eve trivia as well as fire pits to keep us all warm. It’s a great night for the entire family. Come be part of the tradition and join us in ringing in the new year!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the general membership we want to congratulate our Chamber members, Tom Diana, Ed Lachterman and Judge Gary Raniolo in their election victories! We also want to congratulate our Supervisor-Elect Matt Slater for his victory and wish Supervisor ilan Gilbert the best as his life journey continues and thank him for serving the people of Yorktown. It takes a lot to campaign and get elected. We look forward toward working together with the town to enhance the business community and serve our local residents.

As you turn the pages of this last newsletter for 2019, please take a little extra time to see all the fantastic things that your Chamber has been hard at work doing this past year. Like anything else, this is a very difficult task and no one person can do it alone. It takes the hard work and dedication of many people. There is nothing easy about running this organization but with the hard work of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Committees, Chairpersons, Volunteers and Office Staff, we have been able to achieve these accomplishments. I would especially like to thank our membership for their belief in the organization as well as their desire to belong to a group which always has their best interest as our primary objective. It has been the Chamber’s goal to make Yorktown and its five hamlets a place where people would want to come, live and do business.

As I wrap up my first year as President of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce I must say I couldn’t be prouder with what we have accomplished and what this organization has contributed to this community. In working with the Board of Directors and chamber staff I can truly say we love this town! I would like to extend happy holiday wishes to everyone and thank the Board of Directors, our membership and my office staff who donated their time and energy to making this organization what it is today and hope to see you at our Annual Holiday Get Together at Novecento Oven & Grill on December 9, 2019 at 6:30pm for an evening of fun and laughter.
