Yorktown Chamber President’s Column April 2021

April is finally here and there have been and continue to be a great number of changes as it relates to the pandemic and opening once again.  As of late new guidance has been released regarding both indoor and outdoor venues as well as small business capacities.  The good news is that COVID numbers are down, Vaccinations are up and so are indoor and outdoor venue capacities and guidelines.  I know people are tired of the restrictions, but we must all continue to be diligent for just a little while longer.

The Yorktown Chamber has been extremely active throughout this entire pandemic and although, for public safety, we were not able to have our many successful events during 2020 but we look forward to providing our great social and economically productive events for both the citizens of Yorktown and the Small Businesses in 2021.

The Chamber, however, has not taken this pandemic lying down and as a result we kicked many of our other initiatives into overdrive by providing up to the minute PPP information from the very beginning and advocating and promoting our small businesses as well as our organizations and town departments to get you all the most up-to-date information, and we will continue to do so.

I can also tell you that we are in the middle of planning and scheduling our events and look forward to “putting them on” when we feel the time is both right and safe!  Currently we are actively planning our Scholarship Fund, Our Best Of, Our Spring Fest as well as our Member Appreciation Awards Ceremony and, of course, our Street Fair.

Promoting our businesses throughout all five hamlets is and always has been, ongoing.  We have had unprecedented success with our 100 Businesses in 100 Days initiative whereby I pledge to visit 100 Businesses in so many days and heavily promote your venture.   At the time of the writing of this correspondence we have already visited and heavily promoted 32 businesses / organizations, but we have a long way to go.  The cost of this service is FREE to any business and the response has been astounding.  If you would like us to visit your business, please let us know.  We are ready willing and able to help move the local town economy in every way.

As the “De Facto” businesses advocate, The Chamber will continue to speak out for the business community and pursue projects that we feel are particularly beneficial to our town and will help to increase economic activity as well as stabilize, if not help to lower, the private tax base.  As a civic organization we will continue to advocate for the town folk, provide recreational activities for all to enjoy and promote the wellbeing and welfare of all people.

If you have a question, need our assistance, or have an idea you would like to share, please feel free to contact us via Facebook or by phone at 914 245 4599.

Thank You,
