Yorktown Chamber President’s Column June 2021

I remain extremely excited that our state’s reopening efforts are well underway and The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce has some exciting events and initiatives on the horizon that I would like to share.

SUMMERFEST: This great event is nearly upon us and will commence at 11 am on June 19th 2020 at the YFD Firehouse grounds located at 1916 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Summerfest will be a fun day filled with live music, food, beer and wine, a variety of vendors, a silent auction benefitting the Chamber’s scholarship fund as well and rides and games. There will be something for everyone. It is a great way to “Shake Off Those Covid Blues.” See page 8 for the full program including music by Platinum One, performances by local businesses, a DJ, and the closing act, our own Jessica Lynn. The event will be COVID safe. Register for this FREE event at https://yorktownchamber.org/summerfest

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: We are in the process of interviewing 16 applicants and I have had the pleasure of witnessing how impressive our young leaders of tomorrow truly are. The response has been enormous and we look forward to speaking with the most promising students. The Scholarship awards dinner is slated for July and a donation of $100 or more will secure your invitation for the awards dinner and ceremony. 100% on your donation goes directly to the students. To donate please contact us via email at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or via phone at 914.245.4599.

100 BUSINESSES: Yorktown has such a vibrant and diverse business community, but it needs all of our help and as of the writing of this letter I am currently planning to visit my 90th business. Most importantly I feel that our efforts have significantly impacted our local commercial areas. Having the opportunity to visit businesses and speak with the owners directly regarding their needs and concerns has been enormously helpful in crafting and guiding the Chamber’s legislative efforts during this pandemic. MASK MANDATES: With the advent of the new CDC announcements regarding masks it has made this pandemic even more fluid, but we must stick together. Please remember being respectful of one another’s preference is of paramount importance. It is also extremely important to respect the policies set forth of each individual business which may vary.

ONE MORE THING: Join us at our next GRAND OPENING and Ribbon Cutting with Michael and Jennifer Ferry at Yorktown Family Eye Care, 26 Triangle Center on Saturday June 26th at 9am. Michael, a long time resident and a Yorktown High School graduate, is returning to Yorktown to raise his family and open a new business.

Yorktown is a very special place with great people and great businesses. All our hamlets are extremely special, and it is the de facto place to raise a family in Westchester County. Help me support our community.
