What books are on your June TBR?

Despite the unseasonably cool temperatures, June is still expected to arrive tomorrow. Which means it is time to assemble a new TBR. If you know me, you know that TBRs and I do not have an impressive history. (See here and also here for reference.)

But I’m ever an optimist. Plus, I have a tall stack of recent purchases/gifts I’m excited so read that I don't know where to start. I even had to do a try-a-chapter experiment (see attached video) and an Instagram poll just to decide. That seems promising, right?

Here’s are the first three, in order of planned reading:

The Obelisk Gate (The Broken Earth #2) by N. K. Jemisin

In a characteristic fit of impatience, I couldn’t wait until June and already dipped into it. So far, it is even better than the first book in the series, which is saying something because the first was incredible.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

As selected in my Instagram poll, I’ll dig into this one next. I’m all about fantasy for the foreseeable future.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

See above.

In addition to the above, I’m also planning to read, for my research:

Gilgamesh translated by Stephen Mitchell

I loved Mitchell’s translation of The Iliad.

Inventing Homer by Barbara Graziosi

Homeric scholarship is my happy place.

The Odyssey by Homer translated by Barry Powell

Somewhat obviously, Homer is also my happy place.

After that…I’m not sure! I have. Robin Hobb book on my Nook that I might like to get to. Plus the second book in the Invisible Library series. Plus about [mumbles an appallingly large number] of other unread book on my virtual and physical bookshelves.
