Yorktown Chamber The President’s Column June 2019

What a great night for the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce. Once again a lavish cocktail reception was held on May 30th as we celebrated “Yorktown’s Best of. . .Awards” Cocktail Reception at Vittoria Z’ on the Lake. It was our pleasure to honor Mary Fellbush of Absolute Flooring of Yorktown, Inc. as the 2019 Business Person of the Year, Breslin Realty Development Corp. as the 2019 Business of the Year and Drug Crisis in our Backyard as the 2019 Organization of the Year. Our digital journal was displayed on a large screen during this event and was sent to each member of the Chamber as well as being on the Chamber’s website until next year.

Come out on June 8 and cheer us on at our annual “Kids Vs the Cops” Baseball Fundraiser at the Granite Knoll Field from 5 to 9 pm with a special guest appearance by Dwight Gooden. The opening ceremony will take place at 6:00pm. Food, refreshments, music, and a DJ will all add to the family fun night out. ALL the proceeds go to local families that have children with life threatening diseases. The money is used to send the entire family to Camp Sunshine in Maine for a week of respite, hope and fun. Free vendor booths are offered on a first come first served basis. It’s not too late to get a booth. Call the Chamber office at 914-245-4599.

This year’s Auto and First Responder Show will take place in the Kmart Parking Lot in Yorktown Heights on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 10am – 5pm rain or shine! It will feature new cars, classic, hot rods, drag cars and motorcycles. There will be live music by Classic Rock Eupohria, a car contest, a loud pipe contest, auto vendors, a food and beer garden and much more. Save the Date!

Our Scholarship Award Dinner will take place on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Vittoria Z’ on the Lake at 6:00pm thanks to our generous sponsor, the Counseling Center at Yorktown. We extend our thanks to Furci’s, Savannah & Co., Little Sorrento and Burger King for their “Dining to Donate “ program rasing funds for our scholarships. All those who donated will be guests at this dinner. It’s not too late to send in your donation and join the festivities.

If you have not thought about special advertising for your business, please keep in mind that the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory Community Profile & Visitor’s Guide for 2020 is being redied for publication. Please give the sales people your attention when they call on you to place an ad.

Our 11th Festival and Street Fair is scheduled for Sunday, October 13, 2019. Plans are underway to make it the best one yet! Please save the date and look for announcements. Go to www.yorktownchamber.org  to see how you can promote your business by buying a flag to fly on Commerce Street in Yorktown, your name on the LED sign in the middle of Yorktown or as a vendor throughout this event.

Monday October 21 and Wednesday October 23 the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Political Debates will take place at the Yorktown Stage. Please make a note on your calendar to attend.

By reading the newsletter each month we hope it provides you with a window on what and how the Chamber is working on your behalf.

Enjoy the great weather with summer just around the corner!
