Support Connection hosting “Cooking and Wellness: A Summer Retreat” for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer

Support Connection, Inc. will hold a program “Cooking and Wellness: A Summer Retreat” on Saturday, June 22 from 10 am-3 pm, at Hilltop Hanover Farm, Yorktown Heights, NY. The program is open to people living with breast, ovarian and gynecological cancers. The day will begin with a nutrition workshop and some hands-on wholesome cooking.  After enjoying a delicious lunch with good company, participants will learn about the use of acupressure as part of a self-care regimen.

Morning session: Learn delicious ways to simplify cooking whole foods. Also learn about  food facts, myths and misconceptions; navigating the field of culinary nutrition; empowerment through preparedness; meal planning. Instructor: Emilie Berner, Chef and Coordinator of the Chef Peter X. Kelly Teaching Kitchen at NY Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

Afternoon session: Through demonstrations, participation exercises, and discussion, learn concepts and techniques for acupressure and how it can alleviate discomfort. Instructor: Jillian C. Schwartz, LAc., Dipl.O.M., owner of Clearview Acupuncture, and PC. Member at NY Presbyterian Hospital will be the presenter.  She works with both inpatients and cancer patients.
