Staycation showcase in Grand Central

Don’t miss your chance to win tickets to the Putnam County Wine & Food Fest at Metro-North’s 10th annual Getaway Day Staycation Showcase happening Wednesday, May 22nd 11AM to 3PM in Grand Central.

Spearheaded by Donna Haynes, Assistant Director, Promotional Partnerships, Metro-North hosted the first Getaway Day event in 2009 which featured six tourism partners (including the Bruce Museum, New York Botanical Garden and Thunder Ridge Ski Area).

“We wanted to offer our tourism partners an opportunity to connect with some of the 750,000 daily visitors who travel through Grand Central Terminal daily. For the past 10 years, Metro-North’s staycation showcase has featured a diverse range of places to go and things to do in New York City, Connecticut, the Hudson Valley and beyond. Getaway Day happens just before Memorial Day, a perfect time to present the hottest summer destinations, happenings, special offers, getaway prizes and entertainment”, said, Donna Haynes.

Kamala Sibaran-Browne, Manager, Promotional Partnerships, coordinates the exhibitor logistics, Getaway prize drawings and registration details to help seamlessly present the event year after year.

“Last year we had nearly 2K people pass through the showcase. We’ve expanded on the regional staycation showcase concept by hosting the first ever Get Out & Go Show at Palisades Center in April. It was a tremendous success and we look forward to hosting it again next year,” said Haynes.
