WESTCHESTER COUNTY SHARES TIPS ON HOW TO REDUCE FOOD WASTE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

In light of the holiday season which is now fully underway, the Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities is sharing tips on how to reduce food waste, and begin composting in your own backyard. Holiday food waste is a big issue – with more than 40 percent of food purchased being wasted every year.

The County visited with Teatown Lake Reservation Community Environmentalist Nadya Hall, to learn more about how to purchase the appropriate amount of food, use your left-overs, and compost whatever food isn’t eaten. Composting is a simple way of feeding nutrients back into the environment.
