Today, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to immediately take up House-passed legislation to address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in communities across America. The PFAS Action Act contains Rep. Maloney’s bill, the PFAS Testing Act of 2019.
The bill package passed the House with bipartisan support and is awaiting a vote in the Senate.
Rep. Maloney’s letter to Senate Majority Leader McConnell can be found here and below:
"Dear Majority Leader McConnell:
As you consider your schedule for the coming year, I urge you to take immediate action on the ever present issue of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. Recent research has shown that our nation’s drinking water supply is still vulnerable to PFAS contamination, threatening the health and safety of families across the United States.
I urge you to prioritize progress and action on this vital issue and bring this key legislation to the Senate Floor for consideration.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Sean Patrick Maloney
Member of Congress
