Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,Ref-Mahopac) attended a rally at the state Capitol today alongside over 250 law enforcement officials, victims’ advocates, state senators and Assembly colleagues to support the repeal of bail reform (A.8855).
“This law continues to do more harm than good, setting dangerous criminals free without bail to continue their lawlessness at the expense of law-abiding citizens,” said Byrne. “The Assembly and Senate Majorities keep comparing our bail reform to that of New Jersey’s, but New Jersey’s is vastly different. They enacted it over the course of three years, spent time carefully planning it and continued to hold dangerous, as well as violent, criminals on bail. The time to act is now! Let’s do something before any more families have to suffer from this failed attempt at so-called reform.”
