Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced late yesterday the results of the state’s hand recount of ballots and affirmed that former Vice-President President Joe Biden won the state. Biden beat President Donald Trump by just 12,284 votes, according to the final tally which was a slightly smaller margin than in the original results.
"Georgia’s historic first statewide audit reaffirmed that the state’s new secure paper ballot voting system accurately counted and reported results,” said Raffensperger.
Georgia has 16 electoral votes. The State of Georgia had voted Republican in the previous six presidential elections. After the conclusion of the recount, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger faces a Friday (today) deadline to certify statewide results, according to state law. The Trump campaign then has two days to request another recount, which would use scanners. It is unknown at this time if the Trump campaign will request another recount.
