Senator Pete Harckham inspects crosswalk at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School after safety concerns from middle schoolers

Senator Pete Harckham, 40th Senate District, made a site visit to the crosswalk on Route 132 in front of the Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School, after receiving an email from Trent and Gavin Patane, students at the school. The boys expressed concern about the safety of the crosswalk in terms of visibility and speeding vehicles. Joining the Senator were Yorktown Supervisor Ilan Gilbert, Lakeland Central School District Superintendent Dr. George Stone and Tara Rosenblum of News 12’s Turn To Tara. The Senator is working with the school district, town and the Department of Transportation to find ways to make the crosswalk safer for the students and community.
