White Plains Resident Arrested Following Traffic Stop

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 34 year old White Plains, NY who is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Operating a Vehicle While the Registration is Suspended or Revoked, an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
 
According to police on August 19, 2019 at about 11:10 PM, Officer Hannigan was on routine patrol operating an Elsag License Plate Reader on Route 6 near the intersection with Mill St. The LPR System activated on a passing vehicle indicating that the vehicle’s registration was allegedly suspended and Officer Hannigan conducted a traffic stop. The defendant was identified as the operator and owner of the vehicle and a check of the registration revealed that the vehicle’s registration was allegedly suspended for an insurance lapse. A subsequent investigation at the scene revealed that the defendant was also allegedly in possession of a quantity of Oxycodone. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.
 
Following processing on the above charges the defendant was issued an appearance ticket and a traffic ticket and released on his own recognizance. The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on September 9, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
