Coronavirus Update: What You Need to Know

As most of you have seen in the news, there is widespread fear of the spread of the virus known as Covid-19 or Coronavirus. As of, February 26th, there have been 14 cases in the U.S., all except 2 were related to recent travel to China. An additional 47 cases occurred amongst a group of Americans while outside the U.S., all of whom have returned were quarantined until the incubation period was over. In contrast, according to CDC statistics, so far there have been at least 29 million flu illnesses, 280,000 hospitalizations and 16,000 deaths this year.

And while I am not a doctor that gets alarmed easily, I think it’s important to be prepared for a potential spread of Covid-19 in the U.S. as well as the duration of a long flu season, overall.

Here Are my Basic Recommendations

  1. Practice ALL prudent prevention strategies as you would during a flu season including; frequent hand washing, don’t touch your face and mouth, instead of shaking hands, do an “elbow pump”, stay well hydrated and wear a mask in high-risk areas. Stay home and rest, if you get the flu-like symptoms and don’t let it progress.
  2. Prepare at home by having extra medications (if you take any), supplements, water, and electrolytes. Have a plan to protect the family if one gets sick at home to include protective masks, antibacterial wipes, electrolyte drinks, etc… Even burning Sage in the house has been found to kill household germs.
  3. Increase your intake of Vitamin D, Zinc, Iodine, and Vitamin C. Consider our product called ImmuneMax which has all the medicinal mushrooms and more as a preventative and keep a jar of our Electrolyte synergy powder at home to add to water. It will keep you hydrated. For a limited time, we will be conducting a Zinc Tally test for $5.00 in our clinic. Call us for more information. This is a quick evaluation of your Zinc status and will tell us whether you have a sufficient amount in your body or may need to supplement. Zinc is a trace element that is necessary for a healthy immune system. A lack of Zinc can make a person more susceptible to disease and illness.

Additional Tips

We are here to help. However, if you have the flu, we will provide you with a mask that we will ask you to wear in the clinic while you get treatment. Also, while I am generally not a big fan of the CDC and their use of antiviral drugs as a solution, they do have some good info at www.cdc.gov on surveillance, symptoms, and things to do if you get sick. We will also extend a courtesy by answering any dosage questions or supplement recommendations you may need. We can also leave herbs and supplements outside for after-hours pick-up, or you can have family members come to pick anything up that you might need when the clinic is open. There is no reason to be scared if you just stay prepared!
