Cuomo adds 4 states to Travel Restriction Quarantine, and impose fines

NY to fine those that do not provide contact tracing information upon arrival in NY

New York has added four states to its coronavirus quarantine list requiring visitors from those states to isolate themselves for two weeks.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday said Minnesota, New Mexico, Ohio and Wisconsin now have significant community spread of the coronavirus and meet the state's metrics to qualify for the advisory. Delaware was removed from the list, bringing the number of states on the advisory to 22.

This comes on the heels of his announcement that fines will be imposed on travellers from those states that do not register their contact information upon arrival in NY State. Cuomo said that travellers by air will be given a form to fill out and turn in upon gate arrival at all NY airports. They will have to provide their contact tracing information and where they intend to stay in NY. Failure to turn in the form will result in a $2,000 fine. They are also subject to the 14 day quarantine rule.

Cuomo on Monday said a travel enforcement operation will begin at airports to ensure that travelers are adhering to the quarantine restrictions.

The quarantine applies to any person arriving from a state with a positive coronavirus test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a seven-day rolling average, or a state with at least a 10 percent positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average

The 4 states added yesterday join those below that Cuomo had originally put on the list which is based upon Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 205, issued June 25, 2020.
