Carmel Woman arrested for Identity Theft and Grand Larceny Charges

Yorktown Police report the arrest of a 30 year old female of Carmel, NY on an Arrest Warrant issued for Identity Theft in the 1st Degree and Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, Both Class D Felonies.

According to Police, on August 25, 2018 at approximately 11:16 AM, PO Woodard responded to Yorktown Police Headquarters for a larceny complaint.  An investigation revealed that the Defendant allegedly assumed the identity of the victim by obtaining his personal information and allegedly made unauthorized purchases for cellular phone bills totaling $3,317.49. Det. Shanahan was assigned to the case.  PO Woodard and Det. Shanahan made several attempts to contact the Defendant in regards to the incident but she was uncooperative.  A warrant was applied for and issued by Yorktown Court on January 15, 2019 for her arrest.  On February 25, 2019 Det. Shanahan and PO Doherty responded to the Carmel Police Department where the defendant was being held.  She was placed under arrest and transported back to Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

The defendant was processed on the above charges and arraigned by the Honorable Judge Raniolo who set $10,000 bond or $10,000 cash.  The defendant could not make bail and was remanded to Westchester County Jail.  She is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on February 28, 2019 at 06:00 PM.
