Civilian Response To Active Shooter Event

The Town of Yorktown Police Department will be providing a "Civilian Response To Active Shooter Event," course on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Yorktown Town Hall (363 Underhill Ave) from 7-9 p.m. The course is designed and built on the "Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy designed by ALERRT, and will provide strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Yorktown Police Officers M. Caprio and M. Woodard will instruct the course. The course is open to all, with capacity set at 115 within the Town Hall meeting room. There will be an attempt made to film the event, and to show the event on the local town government cable channel. The Yorktown Police Department anticipates providing future Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events courses at other venues in 2019.
